Where to get bubbles

Dear Bubble Warriors,

After an exhaustive trip through the city, we have discovered where to find the best bubble toys! :)

1. Toys R Us in the Dufferin Mall >> has absolutely the best toys: Linkz guns (no dipping required), Turbo bubble generators, giant bubble wands, tumblers and lots of solution. Subway to Dufferin, southbound bus two stops.

2. Zellers at 1245 Dupont >> has the largest bottles of bubble solution and a few good toys. Subway to Dufferin, northbound bus a few stops, walk west.

3. Toys Toys Toys >> on the lower level of the Eaton Centre (Queen St. side) has bubble guns that shoot tiny bubbles, smoke bubbles and bubble guns that you need to dip in a cup. This is a good last minute option.

Bubble battle this Saturday in 6 cities(!) in North America! Toronto's is at Queen & Bay, NE corner :) 3 PM, yo. http://www.newmindspace.com/bubblebattle.php

Free stuff: status

Monitor appears to be shot. Recognizes that there's a signal but nothing shows up on the screen. It had a removable cable, so I tried switching it out with one I knew that worked, no go. Opened it up to see if there was anything obviously not connected, no go. Put it back together and gave it one last try then took it to the garbage chute room.
No, I didn't throw it down the chute....It wouldn't fit. -:)

The computer I found works. It's a P2-233, 192 RAM, 10gig drive. It doesn't boot all the way yet, hangs when it starts to load Win ME (which is what was/is on it). I can boot from a floppy though and look around the hard drive without a problem. It might boot properly after I give it a good vacuuming, just didn't want to put in the effort if it was going to smoke when I plugged it in.

Free stuff!

Just got back from wandering the neighbourhood peeking in and around dumpsters around apartment buildings. Picked up a 17" ViewSonic monitor which looks like it's in really good shape, have yet to test it though. Also picked up a couple of networking books in pretty much perfect condition. A successful day if I do say so myself.

During my wanderings I met a couple of other guys doing roughly the same thing I was. One guy looked like he might have been homeless, or close to it, but I could be wrong about that. Anyway, this guy was picking up bottles. The second time I saw him he had filled another three bags of bottles so I guess he was having fairly good day. The second guy was driving around in a pick up truck and was just cruising around and looking from the street, if he saw a possible find he would park and head in. I gave him a five disc CD changer that I found but didn't really have room for and pointed out a building that had a working (apparently, the bottle guy told me he knew for certain it was in working order) water cooler out.

This was my first time checking bins outside of the building I live in. I found it difficult at first to check when other people were around. As time wore on I got a little more confident and didn't mind so much if somebody was looking, mostly due to the two other guys I met I think. So far I've found the best stuff in my building though, probably because I get to it soon after it's put out and it's still in the building not available to the general public.

Time to test this stuff out.

Grow damn it!

So, in keeping with the "I'll actually post updates" theme. I just finished planting my carrots and cucumbers. The carrots were planted in an old litter box, and yes, it was thoroughly cleaned before hand, and the cucumbers were planted in a spare pot. Now hopefully these things grow and produce proper vegetables. I'm not new to gardens by any means, we always had one while I was growing up. Container gardens on the other hand are a totally different beast. Our tomatoes did phenomenal last year, so I'm hoping that we can continue that trend with other vegetables. Here's hoping!

Recent happenings

Postings seem to be a little sparse lately. That kind of sucks, but whatever, I post when I post. So let's get caught up on everything shall we? Hmm, what's been happening recently. I'm looking for a new job, preferably an IT position in a small to medium sized company. I've gone back to school. Taking a Personal Trainer course. Completed a semester for that already. I found a whole computer in the recycling bin for the building I live in. Haven't tested the computer yet so I don't know if it's working or not but it looks like it's in fairly decent condition. Also found a whole bunch of cook books, which have joined my library, and a box of Danielle Steel books which will be distributed to any who wish to read a free book or two. I've planted potatoes in a bin on my balcony, they seem to be coming along nicely. Soon to be planting carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, and possibly some other things. Urban balcony farming, gotta love it. Oh, and of course possibly the biggest thing to happen recently, I got a Roomba robot vacuum. I've named it Priscilla. So now my floors stay relatively free of dust bunnies and hair tumble weeds.

I believe that's it for now. Hopefully I get my butt in gear and post more often for the 1 or 2 people that actually read this.

To the bat garden!

We now return to our regularly scheduled plan for interdimensional conquest.
