Site Update: Blog archives

Just a quick note to let you all know that previous blog entries are now available from the archive section of the left side menu. Just because I know you all really want to go back and read everything I've written on this site since the dawn of....well...this site. Enjoy!

The coming storm

Tis one of those days, weather is looking like a storm is comin in, the air
is electric, full of power and fury. Makes me want to be outside. If not
runnin around and acting like a nut and having fun, at least just be outside
enjoying the feeling.
Instead I have to be in this office where nobody appreciates a good storm.
Everybody is gloomy cause it's a little grey outside. "Oh if only it would
be sunny", they say. "If only the world was full of smiling daisies and
dancing woodland creatures."
Well fuck em! This is my world. A world of grey skies, fire, and technology.
A world of blasted concrete and twisted steel. The world beyond anything
these mindless automatons can see or believe in.
I watch them everyday. Sitting there, enshrouded in their delusions,
admiring their cleverness, relying on everything they take for granted,
totally oblivious to the fact that it can all be taken away with a quick
twitch of a digit, the simple flick of a switch. Click...

Darkness descends. But your hell is my playground, my dreams are your
nightmares. Where are your coveted skills now? How to make the perfect
frappachino. How to tell the difference between 10,000 fonts. Useless now,
aren't they? You mocked the pride in which I stated I had many skills. Said
they were useless. Not so useless anymore, are they?
Suddenly your view of the world changes. When the shroud is torn from your
face I become something else. The face that haunts you, the adrenaline
powered neon skull burning through flesh hardened by the reality you worked
so hard to ignore, that's me. The thing that's always in your peripheral
vision, the thing you can never quite catch a glimpse of no matter how fast
you turn your head, that's me. Forever taunting you with my presence, with
the help you know now that I could provide but never do.
That's right, try walking through rubble in your socks and Birkenstocks and
see how far you get. At least you'll be good for one thing, a laugh. Goodbye
jackass. Don't let nuclear winter hit you in the ass on the way out, it's
tricky like that.

Site Update: Overweight images

It came to my attention today that since I've added that Google ad bar that some of my pictures are a little overweight for the space I've allocated them. So if you see any pictures that make the pages look kind of screwy then that's why. Fixing this doesn't seem like a real high priority to me at the moment, but it'll most likely start to grate on my nerves very shortly so I'll end up fixing everything up.

Site Update: Shameless Corporate Advertising

In order to attempt to recuperate some of the costs of running this site I've resorted to shameless corporate advertising. Yes, I'm slightly ashamed about it, but what can you do eh? Of course I may just decide to remove all of this stuff in a few days, or a week, or something like that anyway, cause that's just the way I am. So you can live with it for now, get used to it if I leave it, be relieved if I remove it, whatever.

On a totally separate note, I really like the band Jets to Brazil. Just thought I'd let you know that.

Workbench update: coffee table news

Just a quick bit extra information about the origins of my hacksaw. After my father read through my coffee table adventures to date he had this to say about my hacksaw.

"About the hacksaw though. Both the saw and the blade came out of the bowels of Dad's basement. I think it might be a family heirloom, passed down through the ages. *GR*"

So there we have it, the hacksaw is possibly older than I originally suspected. Passed down through at least 3 generations. The mystery remains though. Was it actually purchased by somebody in my family? Was it left behind by the previous owner of a house my family acquired at some point? Did it spontaneously come into existence as an amalgamation of parts densely packed into a workshop basement? Or was it planted by extraterrestrial beings as part of a nefarious plot to take over the world? We may never really know.

RSS feed fixed

The blogger atom/RSS feed was working a little wonky when I first announced it, it kept giving me a login error whenever I clicked on a headline from a reader. Everything seems to be working as it's supposed to now. Hopefully it remains that way.
There's still some outstanding issues with my blogger template, namely how the archive links show up (which is why they don't show up right now). I'm hoping to have the archive links corrected and on the site by the end of the week.

Return of the blog

That's right, I have finally figured out how to get my server to play nice with blogger and reinstated easy updating goodness. Took me a while to get the template to match what I wanted but it all worked out in the end. Look forward to further and more frequent updates as I venture forth into whatever and wherever I'm headed. Sally forth! End transmission.
