One of the reasons I don't use movers whenever I move. This kind of stuff really rubs me the wrong way, especially when it happens to people I know.

A very bad thing happened with my move. BEWARE of Logan Movers. They are scammers!
Here's what happened:
1. They quoted $40/hour + 1 hour travel
2. Once the stuff was loaded they demanded a $275.00 "deposit" or as I call it, holding your stuff for ransom.
3. They claimed remaining monies would be returned.
4. After 3 hours of substandard labour ($120 + $40 travel time) they left a couple of things scattered in the hallway and took off!
5. Repeated calls to this "company" have resulted in hang ups, denials ands tatements like "too bad, it's our word against yours"
The $ amount is irrelevant, these types of people are the scum of the earth and I implore you to hurt them where it hurts most, in the pocketbook!
Please let everyone you know in the Toronto area about these scammers
and/or
Call them and let them know how you feel (416) 491-2740
and/or
Tell the Toronto Sun or Now magazine to start refusing ads from scammers.
There you have it, tell all your friends!
wish i saw this before! Logan movers moved my stuff last week and it was a terrible experience! besides being rude, and total assholes half the time, the driver didnt even check the the top of the garage door of my old building as he left and damaged the edge of it! what type of truck driver doesnt check the height above!?! anyways, we were already behind schedule things were going bad and i was afraid of my stuff that was in the truck so as the driver quickly decided to "hit and run" i knew i'd have to deal with it later but thought it wouldnt be a problem as moving companies with insurance should be able to deal with this stuff. Of course when i contacted the company to get the driver's name, license plate and insurance # they refused to give the info, actualy argued that the door fell on them, and the evil bitch kept twisting the story in every way and for every question i asked she had a smart-ass answer! so now i have to take them to court which will no doubt be in my favour as these people are ASSHOLES but a pain in the ass on top of everything! any further advice woudl be appreciated
ReplyDeleteApparently you can lodge a complaint to the Consumer Services Bureau(http://www.cbs.gov.on.ca/mcbs/english/2452_3fe.htm) and they might be able to do something.

I have a PROOF from Telus that they didn't work the amount of time that they say they did. Now I just need an address or fax number for Logan Movers to send it to them.

Hi, thank God; I went to your website, those scambag, logan movers should not be in business anyway I have a bad experience with them, its horrible they never told me how much exactly I have to spent and they even promised they will give me discount, what happen is that I dont have enough money and they just give me one box and took of my $250.00 promise that they will go to my sister place to get the rest of the money but they didn't go there, and took the rest of my stuff, its just this month and its so cold we sleep in the floor with out blanket or whatsoever and were so tired because we also help bring the boxes down. I'm a single Mom and they took advantage of me. What kind of people are these they dont have a heart and they are so cruel.

My wife is extremely disturbed the way they behaved with us. They were arrogant,cheaters and very very non coperative.
They our big cupboard in to peices, damaged our leather sofa badly, damaged our home walls and two of our boxes are missing.

Everything described here is correct. My worst experience moving was by using these A-HOLES. I complained to Consumer Services Branch but they weren't able to do anything. I considered suing but it is not worthed.
ReplyDeleteBeware of Logan movers AND Complete moving & Storage, as this company had changed its name to Complete. I never see people do business like that, they are absolutely ripping off consumers, and the worst thing is we can't do anything to bring them down. I really hope some organization could do some thing about it, they need to get what they deserve.

ReplyDeleteGee, I realize the other posts here are from several years ago. Unfortunately, we did not read this blog before we contacted CMS, which we found is the same as loganmovers. Many of our items are damaged. They still have some of our stuff; everytime we call, they say they'll give it to us soon, but they never come. And they always hang up on us just like with the others. Have any actions against them worked? We realize we need to do something, and it appears this website represents a community of people who have had problems with this moving company. Any help regarding what to do is appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI was ripped off by Logan/Complete in the summer/fall of 2008. I fortunately knew a lawyer at a major law firm, but even with the lawyer I didn't get all of my stuff back and loads of things were badly damaged. You will need legal help if you want to get your things back -- I ended up having to go to the "warehouse" myself which was not fun. No point in suing because Logan is bankrupt and apparently before Logan was L&G. These guys are scum. Get a lawyer. I also had the police help me out too. You are best to go to get your stuff as it will never be delivered to you, I assure you. I was out about $1000 by the end of my move - from overcharges/extortion to lost furniture. Tell everyone you know to stay away!!!
ReplyDeletei just moved and i used Logan Movers. they were fine. they moved my stuff. took one break to eat. sure they were like 15 minutes late, but that's not gonna put a dent in my day, it was 15 minutes! i had no problems. paying before unloading isn't a shock people, all moving companies do this. i've moved 3 times in the past 2 years and every moving company i've gone with does this.(two men w/a big heart, tippet rich.) stop bitching and complaining. all these comments obviously isn't doing anything bec these ppl are still in business. i moved my valubles myself, i'm not an idiot, important documents, jewelery, etc myself. if u're gonna say u're unable to move urself then call ontario disability and they pay for your move...that is if u are soooo disabled that you can't do things yourself. have a smart move, pack things properly yourself. don't bitch about it later, it's a waste of time.
ReplyDeleteI hired Inner city moving and storage for august 30th 2009. 9 am rolled around and they weren’t at my place. So I Googled for best movers in Toronto. I came across many websites including this one with very good reviews of Agility Moving & Storage. So I called them to see if they had a truck and crew available. The person I spoke with was so kind and professional throughout our conversation. He informed me that all their crews were booked, but took my number and said he’d contact each crew and would call me back and let me know if they could accommodate us. I received a call back immediately (with in 15 min.) and he told me they could have a crew at my door between 2pm and 6pm guaranteed. I liked the price and they seemed very professional so I decided to give them a try. The crew called me 30 mins. after I booked to confirm my address and to tell me they were loading the contents of their job and would be at my address around 2:45pm. The crew showed up at 2:15pm, they were very courteous and were very eager to start. They completed the job in less time that I figured it was going to take. I realised why I had found Agility Moving & Storage under the best movers in Toronto on Google. I am always going to use and recommend Agility Moving & Storage anytime I need stuff moved.

Logan movers are theives!!! WARNING: STAY AWAY OR YOU WILL BE SCAMMED. They gave me a qoutation in person and changed it at the end. They wanted $450 at the end. If I knew this I would have done the move myself by renting a van/truch and calling some friends. They damnaged some of my stuff that are worth hundreds. They treat my items like they are garbage. They also took very long to load, travel and unload. At the end before unloaded these punks told me they will not return my stuff unless I pay them more they wanted $450!! when they originally said $225. Very unprofessional. AVOID AT ALL COST. They are a SCAM.
ReplyDeleteI too fell prey to these scumbags and have just filed a complaint with BBB. I had a verbal agreement for $39/hr, 2 hr min plus 30 mins travel time. They showed up 2 HOURS late, immediately made me sign a contract with BS fees such as $1 per step, a $40 'dispatch' fee, and extra km charge. Started offloading everything onto my driveway when I wouldn't pay so I just gave them the $270 they demanded. Drove to the house to offload and they demanded an additional $40 to move anything up the stairs! Absolute scum of the earth. I don't know how people like them sleep at night.
ReplyDeleteWe used this mover April 1st 2010 and had the worst experience of my life. They quoted us $40 an hour.We asked for 3 wardrobe boxes and we presumed they would have moving blankets.When they came they asked for $300 deposit. I ran to the bank got the money. They moved everything and then closed the truck up and presented us with a bill for $678.00. We almost died. After having a big fight with them they told us if we didn't pay they would take our furniture and dump it somewhere.We phoned the office and got the guy named Alex and he told us the same thing and went on to tell us to F--- off. We managed to borrow the money from a friend and then they moved it to our new apt. Half way through the superintendent came up to us and told us they took off and left most of our furniture in the loading area. Needless to say we had the worst day of our life and took us weeks to get over this.

ReplyDeleteI just had the worst experience EVER with Logan Movers, who also call themselves SMS Moving. I wish I would have read this article beforehand. They did the same thing, we were quoted a certain amount of money only for them to try and increase the price when they arrived. We were promised 3 movers and only 2 showed up - 2 and a 1/2 hours late. The one and only thing they had to move, a large desk, snapped in half. So my sister-in-law calls the office and the owner gave her a fake name of an insurance company and a fake phone number. She then called him back and he hung up on her. These people are terrible. They showed up late, ruined the one piece of furniture they were moving and we were horribly screwed as we shouldn't have paid any money at all for this service. I could have just dropped the desk off my balcony for the same result. Just awful. I'm looking for places that I can file a formal complaint because they should not be allowed to be in business.
ReplyDeleteWe used Agility Moving & Storage yesterday for a pack and move. The crew was fantastic, fast, efficient, friendly and knowledgeable in the art of moving. We will be using them again in 3 weeks from the storage unit they moved us in to, to our new home. We have also retained their service for my elderly mother as we want a hassle free move for her. I'll be posting again to let everyone know how they did!

ReplyDeleteSo we just used Agility Moving for the second time, I had posted the second last comment on their services. As the first time everything went on with out a hitch. The were kind enough to send the same crew as I requested as we already had a good move with them a few weeks ago. I think I have found the moving company I will always use. I just know that my mums move will go just as good as my 2 went. Once my mums move is complete I will again post on Agility Moving's services.
